handig (of zelfs nodig).
Below you see a melody, with chords underneath. The chords are in fact
a reduction or 'resume' of the chords, hidden in the melody ('implied
by the melody'). You can use this exercise to do the following:
-
sing the melody, or play it (preferably not on a keyboard instrument..)
and try, while performing the melody, to imagine the underlying chords
(to hear them internally)
-
play the chords on a keyboard instrument (and read the Roman scale degrees!),
and imagine (hear) the melody, or sing it
-
perform the melody "Karaoke ', with the aid of one of the players. Below
you see a slow and a fast version in both keys (G and D), but you can use
the slider to change the tempo yourself. The first measure of the melody
is played, thereafter you only hear the chords. Think the harmony (degrees)
while you sing or play!
For all of these exercises the pdf-file
is probably useful (or even necessary).
Under this first exercise (in two keys: G major and D major) you will
see a second exercise, in D minor, you can use it in a similar way. But
this piece has a 'real piano accompaniment'. |
